The Rope Method
No tape measure? No problem. Here's how to measure yourself with just a piece of rope or string.
Wrap
Wrap a string or rope around the measurement area (e.g., your chest)
Mark
Mark where the rope meets itself with your fingers, a clip, or a marker
Measure
Lay the rope flat and measure from the end to your mark with any ruler
This method works well for circumference measurements like chest, waist, and hips.
Core Measurements
These six measurements are essential for creating your suit. Take your time with each one.
Chest
80-150 cmJacketWrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, passing under your arms. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
Tips:
- Stand relaxed with arms at your sides
- Don't puff out your chest or hold your breath
- The tape should be snug but comfortable - you should be able to fit a finger underneath
Shoulder Width
38-60 cmJacket Helper recommendedMeasure across the back from shoulder point to shoulder point. The shoulder point is where the shoulder meets the arm.
Tips:
- This is across the back, not around the body
- Find the bony prominence at the top of your shoulder
- A well-fitting dress shirt can help locate the correct point
Sleeve Length
55-75 cmJacketMeasure from the shoulder point down the outside of your arm to your wrist bone. Keep your arm slightly bent at a natural angle.
Tips:
- Bend elbow at about 90 degrees
- End at the prominent wrist bone
- The tape should follow the natural curve of your arm
Jacket Length

Tips:

- Classic length ends at your knuckles when arms hang
- Should cover your entire seat
Trouser Waist
70-130 cmTrouserMeasure around your body where you want your trousers to sit, usually slightly below the natural waist at the hip bones.
Tips:
- Don't pull the tape too tight
- Add 1-2cm for comfort
- Most men wear trousers at the hip level
Trouser Inseam
70-95 cmTrouser Helper recommendedMeasure from the crotch down the inside of your leg to the floor. Alternatively, measure a well-fitting pair of trousers.
Tips:
- Wear shoes you'll wear with the suit
- Stand straight with feet slightly apart
- Hem should touch top of shoe with a slight break
Refinement Measurements
These additional measurements help achieve the perfect fit. They're optional but recommended for the best results.

Tips:

- Keep the tape level

Measuring alone when a partner is needed
Ask someone to help with back measurements like shoulders
Not standing naturally
Stand relaxed - don't puff out your chest or suck in your stomach
